Man on the Enchanted Isles
The Galápagos Islands are famous for their wild and untamed nature and known as one of the last paradises on earth. However, the reality is quite different. Man has settled in the enchanted islands and is slowly but surely changing their very essence.
A highway bisects the island of Santa Cruz, leading to devastating numbers of dead birds. Invasive species brought by man alter the ecosystem. Artificial lights allow diurnal predators to hunt well into the night, altering their biorhythm. A fish market provides an abundant food source for seabirds and marine mammals, making them lazy and dependent on humans.
